Shastra can mean anything that guides in the purusharta of the being. That is why people in search of manayadi shastra (vastu shastra) or nadi shastra, accidentally enter this site.
What is Purusharta ?
Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha are called purusharta – human pursuit.
Shastra can be for any of the four purushartas.
The shastra for dharma – mimamsa shastra, that deals with the aquiring of punya (virtue) or giving up of papa (sin), manu smriti, niti shastra etc.
For Artha – chanakyas – artha shastra which deals with the way to control economy.
For Kama – kama sutra etc.
For Moksha – Moksha shastras are many. This is called darshana shastra. It can be classified into two, Astika or Nastika darshana.

There are six darshanas in each group. All the other darshanas can be brought into this six.
Astika – Sankya, Yoga, Nyaya, Vaisheshika, Poorva mimamsa and Uttara mimamsa (Vedanta).
Nastika – Charvaka, Jaina, and four schools of buddhism - Madyamika, Yogachara, Sautrantika and Vaibhashika.
